P ainters District Council 711 has a state of the art Apprenticeship program. This program instructs new members that have little or no experience in the Painting, Drywall Finishing and Glazing industries. Upon completion of the apprenticeship program the member will receive their certificate and advance to the journey person level confident they have a strong knowledge in the occupation in which they are trained.
The apprenticeship is a three-year program, which includes on the job experience and classroom work. The apprentice will receive an incremental increase in wages as he or she acquires knowledge in the trade and satisfies all job and classroom requirements.
Apprenticeship recruitment is held several times during the year. Notice of recruitment is put in the newspaper or call one of the District Council or apprentice offices to confirm the dates and requirements for application.
